Salute to Mothers
The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (OSFL) is proud to announce its final concert of the 2018-2019 season, Salute to Mothers. This concert will be held at the Clemens Center, 207 Clemens Center Parkway, Elmira on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 7:30 PM. All ages are welcome.
Celebrate Mother's Day weekend with classics by Romantic period composers and selections that appropriately honor mothers. From Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, which evokes the imagery of childhood, to Dvor?a´k’s folkloric and nostalgic selection of Songs My Mother Taught Me, to Brahms’ How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place from A German Requiem which was written in dedication of his mother.
This concert will also feature Allison Eldredge as guest soloist and the Chorus of the Southern Finger Lakes.
As a child prodigy, Allison Eldredge performed with the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic and at the White House by invitation of First Lady Nancy Reagan. She gained national attention when Conductor Daniel Barenboim invited her to make her debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Allison has been guest soloist both nationally and internationally, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic in London, among others.
