From Sea to Shining Sea
The Women's Chorale of Corning will perform their winter concert, From Sea to Shining Sea at the First Congregational United Church of Christ at 171 Pulteney Street in Corning on Saturday, January 11th, at 2:00 pm (snow date Sunday, January 12th). A musical journey around our great country, the selections include New York State of Mind, Oklahoma!, Old Cape Cod, I Left My Heart in San Francisco, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Georgia On My Mind, and other popular favorites. They are delighted to introduce a new, original arrangement of Moon Over Miami by John Fastiggi, who grew up in the Corning area. The program is a lively exploration of the beauty and diversity of the USA, ending with a stirring rendition of America the Beautiful. With this concert the singers hope to remind our listeners that whether you fall asleep where "the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain" or you hear the whistle of that Chattanooga Choo Choo, we are all on a journey together.
The Women’s Chorale of Corning is an ensemble of singers that was formed almost 30 years ago and is led by Director and Principal Conductor Doreen Alsen. The group will again be accompanied by Claire Gonta Smock, locally renowned pianist and musical collaborator. From Sea to Shining SeaDate and Time
