Member Spotlight: Southern Tier Medical Care

Southern Tier Medical Care was established in 2017 and is dedicated to optimizing the quality of healthcare through an integrative approach to health and wellness. Our goal is to model and advance a standard of integrative healthcare.  

Integrative healthcare aims for well-coordinated care among different providers and institutions by bringing conventional and complementary approaches together to care for the patient as a whole. The care teams at Southern Tier Medical Care are committed to listening to their patients to get to know them and understand their care needs, removing any barriers to getting appropriate care and enabling patients to live a full and healthy life. The focus at STMC is to provide the best possible care, help to create a personalized care plan and connect patients to any specialty care, if needed. Southern Tier Medical Care is currently offering walk-in appointments for acute needs, primary care for all ages, telemedicine, women’s health, COVID-19 PCR testing, DOT & bus driver physicals, and several minor skincare & dermatology services. Additionally, STMC offers lab services, point-of-care testing, and x-ray. 

In January 2021, Southern Tier Medical Care began its expansion in Chemung County using the Medical on the Move mobile primary care unit In Painted Post. In June of 2021, a second location opened in Horseheads with the official Horseheads office set to open on March 16, 2022. A third primary care practice opened in Waverly, NY in November of 2021 using the Medical on the Move mobile primary care unit with plans to build a permanent office in the fall of 2022. Southern Tier Medical Care has plans to expand primary care services into a larger region offering a patient-focused, personalized alternative to those communities. The Southern Tier Medical Care team is led by Dr. Rodrigo Samodal who shares his purpose to engage the practice of medicine throughout the Southern Tier. Many of the Southern Tier providers have practiced in this region before and are eager to return to their communities.
